FAQ: Can I transport my own horse to Virginia?

USDA CEM mare stallion import quarantine with Dr. William B. Ley DVM MS DACT

Yes, but your horse must be sealed on the trailer by the USDA staff upon release from the Import Center, and must come directly to Dr. Ley's facility in Boyce, VA. There may be a fee for the unsealing of the trailer upon arrival if the Virginia State Veterinarian or their designated agent is in attendance, otherwise Dr. Ley has unsealed trailers by special permission of the State Veterinarian under extenuating circumstances (e.g., weekends, holidays, and middle of the night arrivals), in which case there is no additional fee.
